Missing in Action

To my good blogging mates, just a message to let you know I’m only MIA temporarily….well for a few weeks. Over the past two months my mother has sold her long term home and is moving to a retirement unit. Needless to say this is a huge task involving much sorting and packing so my energies have recently been devoted to assisting with that process. I’m finding all sorts of little knick knacks from my past along the way <smile>

I will be back on air when I return to Darwin in a couple of weeks. I hope you’ll rejoin me then.

    1. hi Jackie, I’m sure with more time we’d have explored more of the background history but I did recover some bits, bobs and photos to scan 😉

  1. I have missed you. Packing up a life’s possessions is difficult. I did this with my Mum six years ago – at 90 she is as happy as a pig in mud in her retirement unit. I hope that your mother is similarly pleased in her new environment.

    1. Thanks Jill 🙂 I know what you mean. I’m amazed that after 60+ years in one house my mother has settled quite well in her new unit -just a bit of “loaves and fishes” in reverse but we got there.

    1. I’ve not only been incommunicado I’ve been neglecting my friends’ posts as well, sadly. Hopefully this week I’ll slowly get back into it.

  2. Lovely to hear from you Pauline… Also did this with my mum, and dad, quite a few years back and it was a very emotional time. Hoping all goes well for all involved and you re-discover lots of wonderful childhood memories in the process.

    1. Thanks Catherine -I think it was more exhausting than emotional even though Mum had been in the house 60+ years. I now need to recover my own life 🙂

  3. I hope it’s all gone smoothly, Catherine, and that your mother has settled happily in her new home. Do have a good rest when you get back. And of course you’ll find a lovely surrise waiting… congratulations on being one of Inside History Magazine’s Top 50 Genealogy Blogs! Well deserved.

    1. Thanks Frances! I know exactly what you mean about having a “boiled” head….a week ago I couldn’t retrieve words at all….no problems. Thanks for thinking of me 🙂
